From Group E in Sibenik, host Solaris was very close to a surprise in the match against Ortigia. Ortigia was leading the game most of the time, but at halftime, the score was tie at 5-5. Then, Ortigia took the lead again in the third quarter, and from then on, they only needed to keep the score gap big. The final score was 12:10 (3-2, 2-3, 4-1, 3-4) for the Sicilian team.
Also in Sibenik, Group E Miskolc defeated Mediterrani with a flood of goals even though Mediterrani was in the lead at first. The Spanish team had a 2-goal advantage when Miskolc scored a total of 9 goals in the last two quarters. Miskolc made it what seemed impossible. Mediterrani was leading in the fourth quarter, but the Hungarian team caught up and just seconds before the very end, earned a 15-12 (4-6, 2-3, 3-1, 6-2) victory.
Group F Eger opened the tournament with a win against Noisy-le-Sec in Mataro, but the Hungarians had to work hard to break the opponent. After a tied score of 6-6, Eger jumped to a 3-goal advantage. Noisy scored its 7th and final goal two and a half minutes before the last break. However, Eger kept the French tight, and recorded a convincing 14-7 (3-2, 3-3, 5-2, 3-0) win.
Teams Mataro and Montpellier from Group F played the last match of the day. Montpellier suffered a loss even when keeping the score tight. Montpellier took a slight lead in the third quarter, but Mataro dominated the last quarter with a 3-goal advantage. At the end, Mataro won against Montpellier 8-6 (1-1, 1-1, 1-2, 5-2).
