The opening match was conducted between Hungary and Australia. Tamás Faragó and Zsolt Petőváry’s students showed a great performance winning over Australia 10-9 in Group A Round 1. On Tuesday, Hungary’s next opponent will be the United States at 6.40pm (local Portuguese time).

“We were afraid of this match. The truth is that this Australia team can play a lot better. We were able to stop the key players from changing the game. Everything worked out well, but I am not satisfied with the last quarter. We knew exactly what the opponent will do, and they showed every great aspect of women’s water polo, so we made the end exciting. Aside from the last three minutes, we were all focused. I hope that we can show our great side during the upcoming matches because despite our group results, we need to lead our fate. I trust that we have many great players, and anybody can be a key player during a match. I also think that those girls who were charismatic today can show how effective they can stay,” evaluated the team Tamás Faragó.
