It has been two weeks since we checked on the Greek water polo league and Olympiacos is still dominating. They put up 50 points during two games, which is simply amazing.

The Greek- and Champions League champion is back on track after a slower start to the season. They did not have a problem in the national competition before, but they could not deliver a win in the Champions League in the first two rounds. Olympiacos had a great 8 days from the previous Saturday to last Saturday as they won all three of their games – two in the Greek A1 and one in the CL. On top of everything, they did this in glorious fashion as they scored a whopping 50 goals in two games in Greece. Granted they played against last placed OFTH and second-to-last Chios, but nevertheless scoring 50 in two games is always exceptional.

The second, third and fourth place teams, namely Ydriakos, Vouliagmeni and Chania, all had one win and one tie in the last two rounds, so they could not separate from each other in the standings. Meanwhile Apollon Smirnis got close to the top four with two wins. Chania had an interesting match, where they managed to shut down Peristerio completely with a 5-0 win. All time record champion Ethnikos Pireus has a rough stretch, they could not win since the first round of the championship. They had three ties with two losses in that span.

Round 5:

Olympiacos – OFTH 24-5

Peristerio – Ydriakos 10-10

Apollon Smirnis – Palaio Faliro 9-4

Chania – Ehnikos 8-8

PAOK – Chios 12-6

Vouliagmeni – Glyfada 6-6

Round 6:

Chania – Peristerio 5-0
