Italian League: Pro Recco in Style

The Italian League has also started. The first matches brought some excitement for many. 

Titleholder Pro Recco and runner up opened the season as expected. Pro Recco played against Florentina in Florence beating the hosts 21-3 while Brescia defeated Salerno 13-4.

Sport Management, which won 3rd place last season, played against Telimar. Even though BPM Sport Management now has a rejuvenated team of players, they needed to fight hard to defeat the opponent. Throughout the game, Sport Management had a lead, but in the second half of the game, Telimar caught up, finishing the game close of 9-10 (0:3, 3:3, 3:2, 3:2) for BPM.

Even though Savona had a two-goal lead of 8-6, host Canottieri equalized the game to finished it with a tied score of 8-8. Canottieri – Savona 8:8 (2:1, 2:4, 1:2, 3:1)

After Ortigia bet Quinto 7-6 (1-3, 2-2, 1-0, 3-1), it took the lead in the Italian League with its three consecutive wins. The first quarter was in Quinto’s favor of 3-1,  then the second quarter was equalized. By the end of the third quarter, Ortigia caught up by a goal, and took the lead in the last period. Ortigia won the game with a penalty shot just seconds before the end of the match.

Roma defeated Posillipo 13-12 (3-1, 2-5, 3-4, 5-2). Roma led the first quarter, then Posillipo caught up and was leading the next two quarters. In the final period, Roma dominated and secured the one-goal win.
