On 22 May 2019, Spandau won the German championship final’s first round in a very tough game against Waspo Hannover.
In the first game of the best-of-five series, Spandau of Berlin triumphed defeating last year’s champions Waspo98 Hannover with 10:9 (3: 2, 4: 2, 1: 2, 2: 3).
Spandau got into the finals for the 26th time in a row, and can play the first match ball on Saturday, 25 May at 4pm UTC+2 and on Sunday, 25 May at 2pm UTC+2 in front of a home crowd. The venue for rounds 2 and 3 is Swimming pool Schöneberg, Sachsendamm 11, 10829 Berlin, Germany.
The Hanoverians pushed the Berlin team our from the throne last year after four titles in a row, and now the challenger Spandau wants the trophy “where it belongs,” as club boss Hagen Stamm emphasized.
Now Spandau is a record holder of 36 wins which is still undisputed, and Hannover triumphed 8 times in Bundesliga (national league). Last year Hannover won for the first time after 25 years.
