In the first quarter, Kazakhstan started easily with a score of 4-6. Their tactics and defense were great. New Zealand then started catching up in the second quarter (6-8), but Kazakhstan’s goalkeeper was always on point.

The third and fourth quarter was more in favor of New Zealand as they equalized to 8-8, then started leading for the first time in the last period. After a penalty shot, New Zealand was now leading by 2 goals, but Kazakhstan soon closed the gap, eventually equalizing to 10-10 just 2:30 minutes before the final whistle. Until then, no-one scored a goal, so the final score was yet to be determined with penalties. In the end, Kazakhstan won with 14-12.
